Excerpt: Dinner will not be perfect, but I am learning that perfection isn't what matters. In fact, it's the very thing that can destroy you if you let it.

Love the book very much.

HEADS UP PEOPLE!!!

This is going to be made into a movie! Starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson and Colin Egglesfield.

Showing on May 2011 in the US. I wonder if it'll show here in the Phil.

Emily Giffin
“But I have learned that you make your own happiness, that part of going for what you want means losing something else. And when the stakes are high, the losses can be that much greater.”

Emily Giffin
“Songs and smells will bring you back to a moment in time more than anything else. It's amazing how much can be conjured with a few notes of a song or a solitary whiff of a room. A song you didn't even pay attention to at the time, a place that you didn't even know had a particular smell. I wonder what will someday bring back Dex and our few months together. Maybe the sound of Dido's voice. Maybe the scent of the Aveda shampoo I've been using all summer.”

Emily Giffin
“I love him wholly and unconditionally and without reservation. I love him enough to sacrifice a friendship. I love him enough to accept my own happiness and use it, in turn, to make him happy back.”

“Life's not black-and-white. Sometimes the ends justifies the means.”

Emily Giffin
“And then there is Darcy. She is a woman who believes that things should fall into her lap, and, consequently, they do. They always have. She wins because she expects to win. I do not expect what I want, so I dont. And I dont even try.”
Emily Giffin, Something Borrowed

Emily Giffin
“I remember that my mother had once told me that the opposit of love isn't hate, it's indifference.”

K.D. Oliveros Love the excerpt that you chose!

Sarah thanks :) have you read this book?

message 3: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Oliveros No, Sarah. Not my type of usual books. But I can read. Last chick lit I read was Bridget Jones Diary and/or The Nanny Diaries (depending on whether you call them chick lit). But I enjoy reading nice short reviews.

Sarah This was better than Bridget Jones Diary. But I guess we all have book preferences. So what books do you like?

K.D. Oliveros I read everything. But not too much on chick lit, romance, mystery, poetry and crime thrillers. I like classics, modern fiction, memoirs, biography, travel and history. I am into 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die quest. I have read 155 of them already.

Sarah That's one heck of a list! :D are you planning to read them all?

K.D. Oliveros Yes, I and my brother have copies of 600+ of those.
