The writing was good. The characters weren't irritating. The plot wasn't unrealistic. The pacing wasn't god-awful. The dialogue wasn't terrible.

So what's the problem? Nothing. And, that's just the problem.

Rarely, very rarely, in fact, does a book come along where, while reading, I don't hate it, and I don't love it. Mediocre personal sentiment hardly ever strikes me, and yet, for The Proposition, sadly, I was uninterested. Ironically, this is intensely unusual, too, considering the book harbored some of my preferred tropes, as well as characters that boded extremely well for potential interest.

Alas, a no-go. The Proposition, while being perfectly okay, wasn't okay enough to maintain my attention.
