I've been neglecting to update my status and reviews here on goodreads because of this series; every spare moment I get is taken up with these books, and when I finish one, I head straight into the next.
Some reviewers are complaining of too many subplots and not enough clever grammar/literature references. I think that the main reason that I have become so engrossed in this series of novels is mostly because of the intricacies of the plot(s), and I certainly don't feel that any of these books has been without a generous sprinkling of clever meta-quips.
I've remarked before about Fforde's incredible ability to string together inter-book subplots. I can't wait to see what bits carry over to the next Thursday Next novel, which I sadly cannot take up directly after finishing this one, since it isn't out yet!
