I REALLY liked this book! It's a story abut a feral 5-year-old girl who is lovingly and expertly coaxed into civilized life by a famous child psychiatrist whose sister just happens to be the Chief of Police in the litle town where the little girl just mysteriously appeared one day hiding in a tree holding a wolf pup in her arms. Who is this little girl and where are her parents? How did she get into the woods and how long has she been living in there? This investigation coincides with questions about the child psychiatist returning to her childhood home to work with this little girl. What's her story?

Seeing the girl's "baby steps" from fear of human contact, no verbal skills whatsoever and animal behavior transformed by sacrificial love and psychological expertise into greater and greater "civilized" behavior, trust and love was very thought provoking regarding the impact of true love on anxiety and fear.

There's enough mystery and suspense in this novel to interest just about anybody and even a little romance or two (for those of you who like that).
