This book took me an A-G-E to get through despite being less than 250 pages long!

The premise of the book seems to have come from the authors dissertation at university, and whilst I'm sure that was interesting and readable, the extension of the essay into a longer book doesn't quite work. As an introduction to the role of United Fruit in Central America it probably has some value as it is short and concise.
Unfortunately, as I came to the book after reading more detailed and analytical accounts of UFC and Central America, the conciseness and lack of detail meant I just didn't want to read it's simplicity.
If you want to begin youyr reading on Central America then this book would be a great way to begin. If, on the other hand, you want more than a throw-away history of the region and UFC's involvement then the brevity in here will anger and infuriate you (as it did me).
