I am the second sister of four, so this book really relates to me. I also really enjoyed the multicultural aspect, because it was clear this family came from a different background, but it wasn't beating the reader over the head. The aspect where the older sister is expected to take the younger sister is an issue that faces children from a range of different cultures when they try to integrate into the USA. Of course, I was the sister who wanted to tag along, but I never stole the suckers.
