Like the other Dostoyevsky novels i have read, this one matched the classic formula. Start the book out good, bore the reader almost to death in the middle and then it gets good right before you are about to give up. I love many of the themes in the story like redemption through love, individual murder to stop injustice vs. a military campaign where more blood is spilled to do the same thing and the misery of concealed and unconfessed evil.
