my friends just had a baby and named him declan, so i'll have fond, if not overwrought, hopes for him.

there's a strong undercurrent (and overcurrent, eventually!) of romance in this book, which, while of decent quality, shifted the novel from what was generally creative urban fantasy into some pretty cliche romance novel territory. andrews is also obsessed with describing peoples' eyes.

in general, quite a fun and interesting world they've created! great range of child and adult characters, and they each had their own distinct voice (which the voice actor captured quite nicely all by herself).
