The Waverlys have always been curious family endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their own home town of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for the feisty apple tree that throws apples and allows the eater of the fruit to see the biggest event of their lives.
After reading the first 2 chapters, I thought this a little corny, but I was interested enough to continue reading and it turned into a charming, enchanting, and heartwarming story. Sydney and Claire, the two Waverly sisters are reunited after Sydney left town as soon as she was able and never looked back. She returns with her daughter Bay, and Sydney and Claire go about mending their relationship and dealing with the Waverly legacy.
My favorite character was Evanelle, an elderly cousin, who is known for giving unexpected gifts that always are needed, but not understood at the time they are given.
A light and entertaining read.
