I bought this book on a whim as a recommendation for me from Amazon.com. I picked it up at my local Borders and I finished it within a day. The author is very descriptive and this tends to be a novel where there is a small amount of action and it pulls on your emotions rather than excitement. The novel goes between Lil, the fairy Godmother, living in New York City and what her life is like there and her flashbacks of what happened in her old life to get her to where she is now. The descriptions the author uses really allows you to emerse yourself in Lil's life and you get to feel how she's feeling. The ending comes as a complete surprise and will have you thinking about the book long after you've closed it. This is no feel good fairy tale, however, there are some darker parts in the novel and despite the cover, is not Young Adult fiction. You will find this in the fiction section for good reason. There are some dark themes in this novel and it's not for someone looking for a re-told fairytale that's going to leave you all warm and fuzzy inside. However, if you're looking for a different type of re-told fairytale or just a good book, pick this one up.
