I'm so glad Shawna recommended this book! It was enjoyable to read and is one of those books that has affected how I view my relationship to food. It has many interesting things for me to consider, why buy local food, does it matter what animals are fed or how they are treated, am I connected to the cycles of the seasons. It has challenged some assumptions that I have about my food - that it is nourishing because of what it is. Now I wonder and am more concerned about how it is grown, transported, or processed. I plan to read this again, and would recommend it to anyone who has never read a food essay-type book.
