I did like it better than the first book, and I actually want to read the next in the series. Not that I really enjoy them all that much or think they are that god, but I do wanna see what all the consequences of this book are.
The characters this time around were so much more mature and interesting (although Cormac still have the mustache! Bleh!) and you got to know so much more about and interact so much with Ben the lawyer which I loved. He's probably my favorite characters in the series.
The plot though was really odd in this book. The main plot was Kitty's being asked to testify at a Senate hearing as to whether the Center for Paranatural Biology (place that studies the dieseases that cause shifting and vampirism) retains its governemental funding, so most of the action for that took place in a courtroom (kinda boring). Furthermore, the way the plot climxed was so odd. It just seemed particularly stupid for those involved and I found it hard to believe they thought they could get away with it.
One of the subplots involved Elija Smith from the first book but it was wrapped up baout halfway through the book in the most anticlimactic way ever. A bit disappointing.
All in all it kept my attention and I was much less annoyed with Kitty this go round. The next book is on my TBR list now but I never see this series getting higher than 3 stars from me.
