bookshelves: classic

This is one of those books I've heard about for years but had never read. I didn't even really know what it was about before I started it, other than that it was set in China and that it was a classic. I'm really glad I read it. I can't count it as one of my favorites, but it was good. I can't really describe my feelings about it, because if I put what I'm thinking into words it sounds negative. Words that come to mind are "plodding" and "slow." But I think that pace was right for the story. Wang Lung is just living. It's the story of him growing from a young man to a very old man and the decisions he makes. The line that stands out to me most from this book is "when the rich are too rich." While this isn't a fast-paced book, it didn't take me long to read, and it was well-worth my time.
