I hadn't finished three pages of this book when I was reminded of the movie Sabrina. Although I have no difficulty with reworked plots set in another time, the first two-thirds of this book was somewhat silly, particularly the character of Celeste. Throckmorton's actions were hard to follow with any sort of logic, and the story line was bumpy at times. The last third of the book saved it from being a complete waste of time, however, mainly due to the secondary spy/traitor theme and to Celeste's finally taking up the reins of her governess responsibilities that should have been part of the story much sooner and more completely.
