It’s the second Christopher Snow adventure. I picked up the first one thinking it might be wonderfully written like the Odd Thomas books. I was let down. Well, I wasn’t as engrossed in the story and characters as I was in the Odd books. It was an interesting story, just not as good as Odd. Because I knew of this second book in the Snow series, I had to read it. Just because. Now I have and I’ll report.

I liked this second book better than the first. It certainly builds upon the first book significantly. The characters are much more enjoyable and their conversations are quite well written. I wish there was more conversation between the characters and less description and straight-up prose to wade through, though. It’s a lot more Koontz-y with the supernatural-strange-weird-o stuff going on, but I still liked it. It ends rather abruptly like the first one, which actually has me looking for the next book in the series, a continuation of events. (If there is one. I haven’t investigated that yet.)

My recommendation, if you liked the first book (Fear Nothing) then you should certainly read this one. I think you can probably read this book without having read the first book, but the first really lays a fundamental foundation of the setting and plot of this second book. Er, so I guess I’m saying you probably do need to read through the first book. I think you’ll find the characters become better defined and therefore more likable. The pace is much like the first book where things mosey along until the end when the smelly hits the air mover, but that’s okay too.
