In the beginning of this book, you are thrown into a murder investigation right off the bat. Caroline Fordyce has a unique career as a sensational novelist. She has set herself up as a widow, because as a career minded female, she can’t be single. Adam Hardesty has a secret from his past, and he is trying to keep. They must transverse the psychic community to find the killer. While they move through the social whirl they must pose as engaged because they are seen together too much. Adam tells of his past, and Caroline tells of hers. When she is introduced to the past again, Adam’s family stands up for her. Adam is feeling protective of her, and already has plans for making her his wife. They solve the case, Adam gives his pretty speech, and they live happily ever after. There are patterns to the Amanda Quick novels and this is no exceptions. The twists and turns in the stories are what set her books apart from others.
