An expeditiously thorough account. What begins as a cavalier adventure quickly turns into miraculous struggle to survive. The ending caught me a little off-guard in what I'm calling an unfamiliar way. I expected it. Both voyagers expected it. But then it was surprising, or unanticipated, the way things panned out. I also surprised myself by the way I stayed with the voyage, taking my time reading through each crampon dug into into ice, and every abseil over a cliff... right to the tail end. The writers did a fine job detailing their misadventure.
