Really well-written, and at times laugh-out-loud funny, as well as heart-breaking. De los Santos does an outstanding job of developing the three main characters--Piper, the uptight and conservative suburban housewife; Cornelia, Piper's new neighbor across the street, who has moved from the city and can see that she will not fit in; and Dev, a bright teenage boy whose mother has moved from California for reasons of her own. A great story about family and friendship, sweet without being sticky or cutesy.
