I did enjoy this. Written with each chapter being from the perspective of the person involved, the research behind each chapter is great. Bulgakov, in particular, has such a continuing influence on Russian literature that his appearance here as a young man is fascinating. Ultimately, the novel hinges on a long marriage with all the pitfalls and surprises that emerge. Hard not to associate Christopher Plummer with this.............
