Interesting. I don't remember a single thing about this book, and when rereading, I usually remember something. What was interesting is that 70% of this book was told from the viewpoint of a kidnapping victim, and only 30% was told from Joe Leaphorn's point of view. I'm going to read through at least the next few, and see how Hillerman evolved as a writer.

Susan I love these books and read quite a few one after the other. If anything, the scenery and Native American traditions are very well described and interesting though I dearly love Leaphorn and Chee!

Patti I'm looking forward to re-reading more myself. It's been quite a while since I read any of them.

I started the Aimee & David Thurlo series that takes place in the same general area, but that series was too thriller-like for me; the main characters always had someone out to get them.
