I don't know much about Queen Victoria's early reign and times, but if this is the kind of thing that went on, I'd be very surprised. Maybe it would be better to say that if this is the kind of thing that went on, I don't care much for this period of history. At any rate, it is more or less what I have come to expect from Dodd historicals after reading Rules of Surrender and That Scandalous Evening. Too much plot that doesn't ring true and characters that seem vaguely familiar. (In Rules of Surrender the hero reminded be of the King in the King and I. In this one, Pamela reminded me of Nanny McPhee.) On the other hand, the books are easy to read if the reader persists in skipping the unnecessary parts.
