Others than this book deserved 5 stars, just for (my) Roarke alone *cough2*, Origin in Death's story is about the biggest sin and taboo for human life. Which made this book so interesting, and with the basic questions : "For the name of science, is it okay to break taboo? Is it okay to break God's law?"
Origin in Death not just about murder or killing. Its more than that. The basic of this story is really, really have science fiction theme, and maybe we all familiar with that. About cloning. Not just clone sheep, or cow, they're clone human. Then breed them, sell them, coded them, to make them perfect. The flaws ones? They will kill them, put the flaw clones on eternity sleep. But, the perfect clones knowing what their creator do is wrong, and they want to stop them, forever. This is when the case begin and involved Eve Dallas, one of NYPSD capable and badass lieutenant . With her gorgeous husband, Roarke's help (yes, you hear me, GORGEOUS, no, don't rolling your eyes), and her partners as well, Eve decide to close the cloning experiment.
This book so hard to read and understand. But beside the main case, we got some "ordinary life" scene. Like when Eve and Roarke plan to hold Thanksgiving Party, with all of Roarke's families come from Ireland. Alas, the party never told =(. The ending of Origin in Death left open, and make readers wonders. What happen with the clone, when Eve and Roarke close the experiment laboratory? No explanation, we just hope they will life with their own term, no more controlling.
Origin in Death is, again one of the best installment of this series. And even not so original theme (cloning), its contains some fundamental question like what I said before : "Under name of science, is it okay for us to playing with human life?".
In the end of this book, there are quiz to decide if your personality like Eve, Mavis or Peabody. The question are easy, and the answers are predictable. The options are describe how their personality after all. The funniest question, maybe when three of them asked :
"What would you do if you ever caught your guy cheating on you?".
Which they all answer the same:
"You mean after I killed him?"
Well, said Ladies!
My favorite quote :
"Mmm,plush."Reo rubed a hand over the arms of her chair, then shrugged at Eve's narrowed look. "If she can be inappropriate, so can I. Cher Rheo, APA, she said and offered Louise her hand.
"Louise Dimatto,M.D"
"Eve Dallas, AK. Ass-kicker. Strap in,"Eve ordered. "Let's move."
