Blood of the Demon is the second book in Rowland's paranormal series starring demon-summoning homicide detective, Kara. With a great crime mystery and a touch of steam ,this book was every bit as good as the first.

This time, unlike her mundane compatriots, Kara can tell that a series of seemingly unrelated suicides have the same arcane signature - some entity is tearing the life force from the bodies and gobbling it down. Along with the crime investigation Kara is desperately trying to get her aunt's spirit to return to her body before it's too late and making deals with demons - including the uber sexy demon lord from the last book - to get the information she is sorely lacking.

I really like Rowland's leading lady and supporting cast of demons - and the FBI officer friend who is more than he seems. Also the murder investigation/mystery is top-notch - the author's real life crime/law enforcement experience is obviously a real plus in bring this series to life.

Can't wait for the next one Secrets of the Demon out January 4th, 2011

Shannon C. Good review! I liked the first book and have this one in my TBR. I need to get to it soon. Sounds like a good read.
