This is our December book club selection. I am a fan of Anne Tyler but I have to admit this is not one of my favorites. It is a story of a mother and her three children. Her husband left her and she never told her children. He was just always away on business. The mother is verbally abusive to her children and, of course, they all have problems growing up.

The reason I like Anne Tyler is because she writes about relationships. Her books always make me reflect on how I treat people especially my family and how I let them treat me. After reading this book, I was sad that people do not always love their children and spouses.

I would not recommend this book to others because I think there are better books out there. I do look forward to our book club's discussion because there will be plenty to talk about.
