it was amazing
bookshelves: biography-memoir

Impossible to put down or resist, it is difficult to understand how a book about life with such a brutal father could also be hysterically funny and, at times, lyrical. This book describes a certain sort of Irish family -- being "a race of gregarious strangers," charming to outsiders and brutal to one's own.

I have enjoyed Joe Queenan's humor for many years and did not realize he could produce such a masterpiece as this.
