I loved this book. From it's symbolic title to its beautiful story. A must read.

To Kill a Mockingbird thankfully lives up to all the classic hype, I'm happy to report. I remember the plot pretty vividly from my first read and yet, still found it to be a page turner. The characters were heartwarming but also real - they have trouble explaining hard concepts and can't understand why bad things happen to good people. The juxtaposition of the story lines between the rape trial of the innocent Tom Robinson and Boo Radley's mysteries helped make Maycomb into a realistic southern tale in the 1930s. While Atticus really was a magnificent character, I really enjoyed Scout, our narrator. Her childlike perspective on the goings-on over a three-year period were honest, insightful and emotional.
