Othello Othello is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. This book deals with jealous, deceit, and murder. Othello is a play written in Shakespeare’s time period of the late 1500’s to early 1600’s. The main problem or topic in this play is Othello is lead to believe that his wife, Desdemona is cheating on him. There is not really a target audience that Shakespeare was trying to reach. After having read Othello, I think it was a well written tragedy for that time period and Shakespeare was a wonderful play writer. I have taken this position because I feel it was a well written but just not for me.
The issues that are raised in this book are that of jealousy. Iago tells Othello that his wife is cheating on him and she is not. Othello believes him and in a moment of rage, Othello kills his wife. Othello believing the lies that Iago told were extremely important to the development of the book. If Othello did not believe Iago then the book would not be a tragedy that it was.
Othello is a very well written book and a timeless classic. William Shakespeare has a way with words that through the ink you can see a clear picture in your mind. Like a silent movie playing in your head. There were not many things that I liked about the book. When Othello eagerly believed Iago over Desdemona something I did not like about the book. What I did like best about the book was that Iago got what was coming to him for destroying some many lives. Even thought there were many things I did not like about the book, I can relate to it. My sister and I often got into fights and I would get mad that my dad would believe her over me when she told a lie.
Othello, again, is a timeless classic that can be told over and over in many different ways but this book just was not for me. In my own personal opinion I would not recommend this book to anyone.
