The first time I read Ender's Game was with my student book club in 2006. How it took me that long to read this masterpiece is somewhat of a mystery, but the end result is the same. Not only do I consider this to be one of the best books I have ever read, my middle school students did something surprising; they agreed with me!

While nominally a children's book, I read Ender's Game in my late twenties and was astonished by what a great story it was. This was one of those books that I forced myself to slow down while reading so I could deliberately savor every word.

On top of that, my students loved it. This was by far the most popular novel read by our book club, and I couldn't recommend it enough to fellow teachers in a similar situation. You will enjoy reading it, your students will enjoy reading it, and the class will be so much more positive because everyone is happy.

Even if you have no interest in science fiction, this book is still a must read. I cannot recommend it enough.
