** spoiler alert ** I read this book years ago and for whatever reason wanted to read it again.
It follows the story of Clare who's hubby leaves her the same day that their daughter Kate is born to go get busy with another woman. Of course Clare is like "What the heck?!" and runs away to her parents house in Ireland (coming from London)to try and figure out her life. Basically the book is about her getting over her depression of her husband leaving her, and dealing with having a crush on one of her sister's guy friends. There really isn't to much mention of the baby. Every so often the author would add her to the story, but from what I've heard, when you have a newborn you dont get any sleep and can't do anything. She didn't seem to have that problem. Must have been a good child.
Two things that made me mad about this book. The sister Helen is just the rudest person ever! Yes, I know, she's just a character, but the way she treats everyone and they just let her, I just wanted to smack her and tell her off.
And the husband. He comes back and convinces Clare that it was her fault that he had an affair. And that if she promises to change he'll take her back. WHAT?! And she almost falls for it. He reminded me of this guy I know who will never admit that he did anything wrong, and will try to brainwash people into thinking that he's perfect and great and that they are the crazy ones. He made me mad. Luckily she comes to her senses and realizes that he's an a-hole and doesn't go back to him.
It was a decent book. Probably about 50 pages to long, but most of her books are like that.
