This tween novel caught my eye while wandering the book section of my local thrift shop. I was drawn in by the bright cover and it was quickly added to the stack of books in my basket.
The gist is this, a bunch of rich girls are throwing sweet sixteens that would put the ones on MTV to shame, all while our lead (and token poor girl on a scholarship) watches and gets caught up in the drama.
Taking pages from the world of Gossip Girl it's a catty drama fest- but it never really gets any depth. In other words, what you see is what you get here.
Is it a bad book? No, it killed a little time and it was interesting enough that I didn't toss it aside. Is it a great book? no. Not at all. In fact I doubt I'll be reading it again. This is another book that will likely get dumped in the used bookshop where I work.
Two stars simply because it's not as awful as it could have been.
