This latest installment in the Charlie Parker series takes us on a dark journey, what's new I hear you ask, all of John Connolly's books take us on dark journeys. This one, however, explores the past of Charlie himself and the mysteries surrounding his birth and the suicide of his father, it also goes some way to explain why evil is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Gripping right from the first page with what at first seems like an unconnected story, this book will keep you turning the pages until before you know it you are at the last chapter. With cameo appearances from the enigmatic Angel and Louis and reintroducing characters from previous books John Connolly is once again on top form. This book keeps you wanting more and right at the very end there is the hint of a new romance for Charlie, so I for one can't wait for the next installment to see what journey Charlie, Louis and Angel will be taking us on.
