I have to say, I think this was better than the first book. We continue to see characters that were introduced in the first one, and had a limited set of new characters being added.

The timeline for the stories is extremely tight as it takes place soon after Raines Benares arrives in Mid.

In the span of a week she finds herself expanding her involvement between the two powerful yet sensual people introduced in the first book of the series. These are Good Paladin Guardian Mychael and the Bad boy Goblin Tam.

The interplay between the three heats up and new powerful players are introduced. All are competing for Raines and the powers she has awakened.

The plot was not predictable and that was a good thing. Normally I spot what I expect to happen, but Lisa did an excellent job of keeping things fresh. Twice I found myself wrong on what was going to be done.

I'm very happy that I have both the 3rd and 4th book in the series and I don't have to wait for the next one.
