it was ok
bookshelves: juvenile-fiction-fantasy

Percy leads a troubled life--no matter how hard he tries, he is always getting yelled at by teachers, or his evil step-father. Even worse, it seems that he is the only one who sees odd things, like teachers turning into monsters! When his mom finally realizes that Percy's life is in danger, she send him to Camp Half-Blood, where he learns that he is the son of the Greek God Poseidon. He also realizes that he has special powers--which he quickly learns to use after setting off on a dangerous quest to save everyone from potential world war.

I was disappointed in this book mainly because everyone is clamoring for it--so I assumed that it would reach Harry Potter proportions. The writing was very simple--which could be good for early readers looking for an adventure book and aren't intimidated by a big read.
