Absolutely fascinating. This book contains Lewis' thoughts on the medieval worldview, in particular, cosmology. Most people think Lewis was a theologian. He wasn't. Lewis was an expert in medieval and Renaissance literature. It is interesting to see Lewis' love of the medieval worldview and the ways it clearly influenced his own thought and writing. (esp. Space Trilogy and Narnia) It made me wish I lived in medieval times and didn't know about science so I could adopt the medieval worldview.

Selections from various theologians from the first three centuries of Church history. Under each theologian the selections are organized roughly by topic. I enjoyed being exposed to the actual words of the early church fathers. I especially liked Irenaeus, Tertullian, Cyprian, and Athanasius. I would recommend reading it alongside a book that gives some context and summary of the different theologians.

Oh my! This is an unbelievable kids Bible! It is one of the few that put every story in the context of the whole narrative of the Bible. Every story is connected to the plan of God in Jesus. It is theologically rich, but still understandable to kids, funny, and moving.

A more thorough overview of theological debates in the early church than I had read before. It was informative, and the writing was relatively clear. It did get a little redundant at times, and it got bogged down in details every so often.

Read this for Historical Theology: Contemporary. Not for the faint of heart. This is a big, hard to read book. It is hit or miss, depending on who wrote the chapters and what their biases are. For an introductory course on modern theology, a lot of it was over my head or too much information. It is a standard text for this kind our course, but I didn't find it helpful. For a non-specialist, I wouldn't recommend it. I'd probably point people to Grenz and Olsen's 20th Century Theologians first.
