This book was pretty good - had a few surprises and peaked my interest in knitting or at least why some people like it. It's just a story about how important people can be in our lives, family or not.

I read this for my St. Mary's Book Club and it was a fun discussion. At first I found it a little too sappy and homey but I kept reading and before I knew it, I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out what would happen to sweet ol' Elnor next! It is not as deep (nor profound) as Fannie Flagg's Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe but just a very fun and cozy read. Probably best suited for the over 40 crowd.

Wow. I will never think of Afghanistan the same way after reading this bittersweet saga of what it is like to be a woman living there. The Kite Runner, also by Hosseini, tells the story from a male perspective but this one is from the women's point of view. I don't think it's possible to read this book without shedding tears for them. The theme is universal and the story could take place in any country where there is a regime of terror and basic human rights have been taken away.

This was a fast-paced page turner, very plot-driven and tons of twists, turns and mystery. It's a great "what-if" tale if you're not offended by liberties taken by the authors of fiction :O)

One of my favorite movies from when I was a kid - I just loved the character of Scout and I so wanted to be her. Many, many years later I decided to listen to the book on CD and it was beyond what I thought it would be. I was sad when it ended because I wanted it to go on and on. This book is on my top 5 list of all time - if you haven't read it, start it tomorrow.
