I think Eugenides is a beautiful writer, though, and I have to give him respect for making me really like characters who were incestous! Plus, I learned a lot about hermaphrodites and the Greek immigrant experience.]]></user_review>

In fact, in 5th grade the teacher couldn't even read the ending out loud to the class because she started crying, even though she had read the book to her class every year.
