The only thing this closing entry to the series had to offer was the development of another relationship amongst all the characters. The book dragged beginning, middle and end. It reminded me of comic books or soap operas sometimes where no one is ever really dead. Had this been the first entry in the series, I would have skipped it.

I'm still trying to fathom the fact that I just read 3, count 'em - THREE, 600+ page books in less the two weeks. I sped through these books and discovered why so many people are loving these.

Sped through this one fairly easily. Still an enjoyable read though. Some of Bella's emotions were a little over the top, it seemed to me, at times - even for an eighteen year old. I know we all feel very strongly during our teen years, but the back half of them? It seemed sometimes she was acting as if she were merely fifteen again. Probably perfectly geared for a young adult reading this novel though.

I found myself more interested in the developing relationship between Bella and Max than the constant back and forth between Cassie and Cyrus & Nathaniel. She seemed to flip between the two easily and only giving a moment's thought to whom she loved more. I'd didn't feel as easily drawn to Cassie being Cyrus's sire possibly because I've not been a fan of that character since his death. I found him far more fascinating as villain at the beginning of the series.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good book but I was more interested in the storyline of the secondary characters.

I immediately liked the lead character and all her flaws and missing bits of memory. Add in a mix of interesting characters and the story fills out nicely. Surprisingly, take away some of the technology and futuristic worlds and you could file this easily over in the romance section of the bookstore instead. This mix may put off the most die-hard science fiction geek but I myself throughly enjoyed the mix. I only discovered after reading the book that this book if officially categorized as "romantic science fiction". Who knew?

I see the beginnings of a very nice anti-heroine here and I can't wait for the story to continue on in August with the next book of the series. In explaining it to someone, they were reminded of Serenity/Firefly; so if you like those, this may be your type of thing.]]>

A good book overall, though not as funny as You Suck or Fluke (two other novels by the same author). Don't get me wrong, there were several places where I was laughing out loud and there's some good setups where you can just envision the sight gags in your head. I very much wanted to like this book. It wasn't bad, per say, but it wasn't great either. All the characters but one were flat and two dimensional. The lead male, Dante, was described so vividly, it was as if he was real. Which leads to you believe that he is based on a real person.

While Keri writes great action storyline that actually have plots that make sense, I failed to understand why she needed to have Riley running around stark naked for nearly the entire book. Nor why she needed to have sex almost constantly. I understand she's made the werewolves in these books have a reverse attitude about sex than most humans, however this really pushed it. It nearly became a continual game of 'Who was Riley going to bang next?' regardless of the situation.

Another good read and addition to the story, I plowed through this one in just a few days. The interludes between the chapters led to a nice break in the action while leading you down the path the book follows. Jo's new job offered up a few nice chuckles and the sex in this book was definitely ratcheted up a bit from previous books. Just finished up this first book of the series and I have to say I was really surprised. I wasn't at all expecting to be grabbed into the book as quickly as I was and it just didn't want to seem to let go until the end. Great writing style (we should all be so lucky to be that much of a smartass) with descriptions so vivid I could almost feel the wind swirling when Jo was fighting for her life. It was nice to have strong connections with characters again.

Laurell's writing flow is impeccable and exquisite, drawing the reader in almost immediately from the first page. There is a lot the reader learns in this book, most of which had only been hinted at previously. I was glad to see a return to the storyline after such a sharp venture with Mistral's Kiss but was frowning during the last 50 or so pages.

While a vast improvement over the previous book in the series (Mistral's Kiss) which was nothing more than a cleverly disguised erotica story under the Merry Gentry guise, the ending of a Lick of Frost left me fumbling yet again in the emptiness that I picked up three books previous (A Stroke of Midnight).

Laurell's writing flow is impeccable and exquisite, drawing the reader in almost immediately from the first page. There is a lot the reader learns in this book, most of which had only been hinted at previously. I was glad to see a return to the storyline after such a sharp venture with Mistral's Kiss but was frowning during the last 50 or so pages.

Another decent book in the series. The mystery was one you really had a pay attention to in order to follow it (or at least it was just me) because it wasn't a straight arrow to the killer. More of a winding way to figuring it out who it was. Can't say that it wasn't an inventive killer, that's for sure.

Huge character development in this one, which is very nice to see 25 books into the series. Certainly when you think she can't possibly delve further into the characters at this stage in the game, she surprises the reader.

Overall, a very good read. Highly enjoyed the pace of it, though a few times it seemed as if a sentence were thrown in the mix that had absolutely nothing to do with what was happening at the time.

Definitely worth a read though.

Way too convoluted and jumpy. Hopping between the past and present in the beginning of the book threw me off. Just as I would get comfortable with the characters I was reading about, it would jump to the past and how they were as teenagers. Organize things around to slot all the past into the entire front part of the book and the story may have flowed more smoothly.

I wanted there to be more from this book than there was. It seemed to focus more on the budding relationship between the two main characters than the case they were both working on. Had it been longer, it could have equally focused on the case and the relationship and given them both their equal due.

I'll probably pick up the rest of the books so far in the series to see how things go but I never really felt that emotionally involved with the characters.

Liked this book a whole lot more than I thought I was going to. Real lives, real relationships, real families - not wall to wall sex as sometimes books like this can turn out to be.
