Skimmed lots - many of the letters were repetitive. The main reason to read it was to understand the confessed darkness in her soul. She suffered a great deal and did not feel spiritually rewarded, which I found fascinating. However this fascination was only satisfied in about 3-4 pages of the whole book.

As a Canadian now living in the U.S., I figured I should probably learn some brief history. There was no better way than to read the fresh perspective of Howard Zinn, written at a high level for a young audience.

In hoping for more an expose, I was a bit disappointed. This book took a bit more slogging through than expected. I would recommend Marcia Angell's book "The Truth About Drug Companies" instead if you are interested in pharma.

The next part of the title is "A journalist's personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus", so I was expecting scientific or literary evidence of Jesus walking the earth. It was simply a circular argument of using the Bible to prove the evidence for Jesus. I was looking for logic and objectivity, but it was emotional and subjective only. Too bad.

Reads like a spy novel! Richard Clarke has an outstanding way of delivering what really happened (from his perspective) prior to 9/11. He was the counter-terrorism expert for the last 20 or so years until he left, frustrated a great deal by the GWB administration.
