I read this while camped far from the Caribbean at Llewellyn Falls and remember it being a light and fun read; by no means deep, but enjoyable. In retrospect, maybe it was as much the sage, the quakies, and the sound of the falls as it was the book that left me with a pleasant recollection.

Very entertaining reading. I enjoy Thompson's collections of short works more than his novels, because the novels seem to me to unravel 3/4 of the way through.

I don't really consider myself a science fiction fan, but I thought this was a really good book and would say that if you were going to read one sci-fi novel, this seems like a good choice. It's amazing that Clarke wrote this in 1953; he was truly a visionary. I was on the fence and considered giving it five stars... half stars would be a good thing.

This is probably my all-time favorite novel. It's a great story about a very interesting time period in America. I don't have a good reason for not reading the last two in the series yet... this summer, maybe.
