The hype for this book was so strong and went on for so long that my expectations were very high. I was disappointed when they weren't met. It's not that I didn't like the book - I did. It's just that I think so much more could have been done with the plot of the last book in this series. However, good book overall and it was generally enjoyed.

It's a good book overall but I was highly disappointed that the twins say that having a lung transplant "cured" their CF. This is NOT the case. As a person with CF with minimal lung problems (and LOTS of other problems) it shocked me to hear them say this (several times, even). Your body still hold the gene for CF even if your lungs genetically don't have CF anymore. Having CF is not just about having lung problems.

I didn't know that much about the infamous Lizzie Borden case so I decided to read this. There is much doubt as to whether she actually murdered her parents or if it was someone else... Made me doubt all those things I had previously heard about her. I was surprised to learn that "40 whacks" is a myth. It is a silly rhyme that people came up with but she (or whomever the real killer is) didn't actually give anyone 40 whacks.

This was such a great book! I can tell why it was a best-seller in Sweden. The various mother/daughter relationships really pulled me in... as well as each person's individual story and how they all came to be where they were at the end. It wrapped up nicely. I was quite satisfied with this book.

This book touched me in many different ways. The 2 main characters have a friendship that is so deep. It is unconditional - they just accept each other for who they are. I would love to have that in my life... although I don't hold the dark secrets like Astrid does. I highly recommend it.

I didn't really want to read this book because I didn't like the film. But the book is much better than the film portrays. She is more "real" somehow and I learned more about what she was really feeling on the inside. Things weren't as foreign to me about her behaviour in the book as the film.

Little tidbits of Emily Bronte's own life comes shining through in this strange tale. I found it very interesting, however, the strange "love" between Cathy & Heathcliff is strange and somewhat unhealthy and disturbed me. I was glad to see that in the end there is one romantic relationship that seems to show the true nature of healthy love.

This is a very hard book to read for me, coming from Newfoundland and having a history of sexual abuse in my own family. I can relate to the culture and the trials and tribulations of every day life on "the rock". Still, it is a story of finding oneself and coming to terms to accepting the facts of your life, whatever they may happen to be.
