I read this many years ago, but since then I've seen the movie so many times that I'm starting to blur the details of the book with those of the movie. I hate that! And I'd like to read it again now that I'm older and see how my perspective has changed. I remember thinking it was a beautiful book.

One of my favorite Shakespeare plays! I was lucky enough to get to see it performed in an outdoor theater in London when I was studying Shakespeare abroad, back in college. The set was beautiful, very magical with lights strung throughout all the trees and very detailed costumes. Now when I re-read the play I have that imagery in mind and it really adds to the tale.

This is one of those books I really wanted to read...I kept picking it up and reading the first chapter or two. Eventually I got about half way through it but I could never finish, it just never grabbed me. I gave it two stars because I think the plot had potential, but I never could keep my eyes open long enough to slog through it. Maybe I need to give it some time, a long time, so that I forget the chapters that I've already read and re-read...and if I can start fresh, maybe I'll come to it with a new perspective.

Ok, the truth is I listened to the unabridged audio book, I didn't actually read it, but I think it counts. It was narrated by the author and I enjoyed hearing his inflection as he related his experiences. I thought the concept of crossing America by boat, leaving the water only to portage, was intriguing and an amazing way to experience the country.

Love, love, love the show...the book was not as good as I'd expected. It basically read like the script of one really long show! So it was very funny, but nothing new. A good time though and fun to leave out on the coffee table.

Another all time favorite...I really love Richard Adams. This one tells the story of the civil war, from the point of view of Robert E. Lee's horse, Traveler. Again, could be read as a children's book, but it's really not and is as good a book on the civil war as any other I've read.

One of my all time favorite books. I first read this in the fourth grade after my teacher showed us the animated movie...it's not just a children's tale about rabbits though, which I discovered when I read it again as a teenager, and again just last year. It's a very moving allegorical story that deals with religion, politics, and the search for home and utopia. Highly recommended.

Hiaasen is very funny, but be sure to space his books apart rather than reading them all at once like I did. They started to blur together pretty quickly due to the strikingly similar formula he uses in all his books. But taken individually, they are all good, entertaining reads. Definitely laughed out loud.

I just read this last week, finished it in two sittings. Very stark and grim but with a sliver of hope throughout that kept me reading. Beautiful and different from anything else I've read recently. I hope they don't make a movie of this one, not sure I could bear to watch it!
