A beautiful story how labels don't work and what you feel inside... is what counts. Hurtful judgements also need to stop from peers and adults....

"Frankly I don't think he's very bright, well I think he's lazy, Right! He's got to press harder, Really apply himself,"
Some children, teens and adults don't fit the mold... they are different, no one should make them stay in the column society deems is where they belong. "Sometimes I wonder if he's really red at all. Don't be silly. It says red on his label. He came that way from the factory."
Everyone should be able to tell their story, in their own words, colors, fashions, music... etc. etc....more

A mixed up of paperwork and suddenly Donovan is now at the gifted school. He knows he is not smart, but hiding from the superintendent is a better situation. Only in hiding he discovers he likes these smart kids, he likes interacting with them and the teachers see a positive force of an average kid mixing with the smart. The teachers have an inkling something is wrong since his grades don't speak for themselves but they are aware of the changes/effects he has on the students. Maybe gifted and ungifted should be mixed in classrooms. Maybe they can both help each other, learn from each other and be friends.
That is the message I saw... Of course, Donovan does finally get caught and he serves his time. His before friends get the message that Donovan has changed, grown up, and it changes their bad behaviors too. I did love that Donovan's sister was the health project and that the dog was having puppies and the small story of the husband in the military overseas... Quite a bit of realism mixed with a fictional character who needed to spread his wings and his energy....more

No one from the reservation wants Birdy to see Tommy.... after all it was her testimony that landed him in jail for the death of his girlfriend. Now twenty years later, Birdy is a forensic pathologist with a box of old cases that haunt her... one of them is Tommy's. Birdy does visit Tommy and finds out he is sick from the guard, who actually sent the letter asking for help. Birdy decides to follow the clues, re-investigate the DNA and interview those involved with the case. It seems the sheriff is unimpressed with her goals and another detective remembers the case differently. A great start to the character of Birdy and her life as a Makah in Washington State. Looking forward to meeting Stark in the series. The Girl in the Woods - on my kindle, ready to read.
"Birdy Waterman was a scientist, a doctor. But she was a Makah and that meant a millennium of tradition and lore had been woven into her soul. Her connection to the water, the air, and the creatures that inhabited the natural world was different from that of people who didn't depend directly on it for their very existence. She watched the eagle as it screeched skyward, its talons skewering the now motionless fish. Birdy felt a whisper come to her ears. It was gentle, like a breath of a lover. 'I'm free,' the wind said."...more
Duo partners in a task force to protect the Platinum Frequent Flyers, the superrich, the powerful, and the ridiculously famous. Zach and Kylie's firstDuo partners in a task force to protect the Platinum Frequent Flyers, the superrich, the powerful, and the ridiculously famous. Zach and Kylie's first mission is a death of movie mogul at a hotel's dining room. A death to look like a heart attack, but soon is discovered as a poisoning. Thinking someone is out to sabotage the week of Hollywood in New York, the mayor asks for the elite High-Profile Victims Response Team, NYPD Red. The detectives have an in with the industry. Kylie's husband writes for a cop show that is produced in New York. Finding a reason for the death of the mogul is top priority as is making sure the rest of the stars in town are protected. The red carpet event for that evening brings in more police than originally planned and more cameras on the scene. The Chameleon, the man behind the attacks... creating his own movie by being the star, the writer, the producer and the director is following his script. Funny thing is the actions are not producing what he wants to happen in his head. Yep, that is where the camera is... The Chameleon believes he is capturing everything on film in his head. A loose cannon, not expecting the directors on the opposite side to have different reactions. The cameraman's body is found quicker than expected thus giving the crew a location to find their perp... but The Chameleon is a master of disguises from his days as playing extras on locations. The reason we the reader discover why the perp is so hell bent on creating his own production. He is tired of being an extra and not noticed for the star he knows he will be... delusions as we read along following his motives and desires with his girlfriend. His accomplice, his muse, his co-writer. Then there is the special effects guy who recently is out of prison who knows who is behind the chaos. Too many variables can change a script... can The Chameleon work around these pitfalls and finish what he began? I do believe this book could be make into a summer 8 or 10 week episode thriller. All the elements of a quick series to keep the audience on its toes. Just think of the possible actors/actresses who could play such characters.
I haven't read a James Patterson book in a while... I'm behind and I hope to correct that error in 2016. I do know I will first finish this series... I enjoyed meeting the squad and I love a good cop series... Shoot, I think this whole premise could be a weekly t.v. series to replace the good cop shows that have left the screen such as NYPD Blue and Hillstreet Blues. Some of my favorites. James Patterson and Marshall Karp.... I'm intrigued with your co-writing... ...more
