I hated the creeps she drew just because they wanted to get ahold of her because she is a sex robot (and the guy who is taking care of her doesn't really even know she is one, yet!). Poor guy. But, eh, not really. Poor girl, more like. I was not at all into it after the first encounter... and it turned me off to read the rest of it for that very reason.
Too bad really. I liked the girl robot and the drawings. I was embarassed to get rid of it, but more so to keep it....more

Too many bodily functions/gesture references for me to enjoy it. The whole bit about the no tampons in the pool part... how embarassing! This was just plain childish. I'd rank it up there with Ren and Stimpy... only, I only liked that sort of stuff when I was little. Not now. Even Ren and Stimpy I'm bound to give a break about simply because it involves complete fiction... between a cat and dog, NOT humans.
Even though this is a manga book, I have to say I like Rocko's Modern Life better. Better than this....more

I bought it as a bargain book in Waldens because I saw the tv special of it on 24 hours, or some sort of news investigation show like that. Unlike the special on the tellie, however, this book was DULL.
Which really is disappointing. The content is SO interesting! But the reading style... omg... flat as a tire snagged on a nail.
Only the first seventy or hundred-so pages are actually about what happened. The rest of the book (more than two thirds) is about the pain (and I emphasize on PAIN!)-stakingly dry text of what happened in the court system.
I was very disappointed. I was looking more for an in-depth look into the minds of the people. The obsession... etc. None so much a luck.
Good luck in reading this encyclopedia. The dictionary is easier to read than this is....more

Ended up putting it down twice after trying to read through it the second time. Maybe it's because of the nature of the writing, in that it's aimed at preteens... maybe, but a part of me doubts it. I just didn't like it. The narrator is a little too sarcastic for my taste. She's not even really funny. I have a hard time sympathizing with the character. I just can't (sympathize). I know this is supposed to have something to do with rape (a scene, perhaps later?; I wouldn't know because I didn't get that far). Perhaps it really did have a point, but I honestly didn't get to see it. I was too turned off by the main character.

I can't even remember if I read it all the way through. I know I put it down the first time... second time I tried to milk through it. I just couldn't hold onto it. Disappointed. Too slow to begin with. Not enough... substance. Lacking, for better words. I know it's the author's first book, so kudos for getting published, but still... I hope she gets better as she gets older. This book talked more of the author writing the vampire character than it actually showed us her writing. Not good for show versus tell. Bad way to start a career....more

And before you go any further into this, keep in mind, I am not your typical boyboy crazy girl. I don't usually read yaoi, but I will indulge in it every now and then. I am picky in my pickings and like plot... not that I don't like sex, I do like that too, but I HAVE to have a good plotline to follow. And even though, I know, these are only snippets of series (or are they short stories? I'm not sure; I'm not that educated about yaoi) in this book, I was rather disappointed in my findings.
I liked Indecent Encounter. Sexy in a small way.
The Pale and Wavering Sketch was also one I liked.
Nostalgic Summer Memories was actually my favorite, by far. I'm not big on the art style, but the plot is actually intriguing. Interesting.
I thought The Proper Way to Raise a Pet was cute, but I don't generally like the whole cat ear, dog ear thing. I liked the dialogue and drawings, but I don't see it as a love story.
I didn't entirely get the whole Pretend Lovers thing (as I guess that story is more for those who like to... fantasize about butlers (same boat as maids, I guess; the whole server aspect)? Yeah, not my thing... but I did like the art style (too bad). Not all well drawn manga comes with a good story line.
I think if I read more We Have a Hero in our Hearts, I'd actually like the story plot more. In the fun aspect of reading, not serious. Reminds me of the light heartedness of Marionette Generation (which I love, btw!).
Neko Samurai is hilarious... and oh so, hilariously Wrong! But I can't stop laughing to take the plotline serious.
The Troubles of Kurashina Sensei I liked. Same with TheifXTheif.
Loving Boys Boarding School is absolutely perverted. Humorous but even more perverted than Neko Samurai. Not exactly a favorite of mine.
From there on, I lost interest in the rest of the volume. All those animal ears... cute, but, perhaps I'm biased... I only like the look on small kids... and girls. Lots of girls.
