Had I read them before I started watching the TV series, I would have understood the characters more. These books are great complement to the TV series or rather the other way around.
These books are wonderfully written. Equally profound, insightful and gripping as was the first book. I am very much looking forward to reading the third book!...more

It's amazing how a children's/teen's book can enlighten an adult's mind to many different things.
Don't be fooled by its simple plot. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. ;) Flipped has a lot to offer its readers. It's a heartwarming tale of polar opposite families and their two kids, Juli Baker and Bryce Loski.
I like Juli Baker. I like her character. She and Bryce amuse me, actually. Anyway, Juli... She's this headstrong young lady full of energy. She thinks differently and acts like an adult. That kind of girl or kid that would surprise you at how she's mature for her age. But then, despite that, when confronted with her feelings for Bryce... Well, like almost everyone, she gets confused, she acts like an ordinary teenager, stubborn. That part was so hilarious and easily relateable. Nevertheless, like the heroine, main character, that she is.. She was indeed the life of the story.
Bryce was also a character. He's like this typical guy from korean/japanese dramas who's trying to shake off this girl who had been chasing him for years only to chase after her when she decided to move on. He was juvenile and yes quite the coward. But he was just afraid of Juli and of his feelings. He's in denial, come on. But then, it really made me giddy how he turned everything around and how he decided to win Juli's heart. Predictable but hey, that was sweet. You have to admit it.
Additionally, I like how the story was narrated between Juli's and Bryce's perspective. The narration provides a dichotomy. You really get to see the difference in the way they think, the way they deal with things and their feelings.
I like the ending. There were no fireworks. It was simple. Ordinary but real.
To wrap it up, Flipped is a greater than the sum of its parts. It's relateable to kids, teens and adults. I definitely recommend this book. It's a book worth reading. :)...more

Anyway, as the previous books confines itself in the territory within the reach of the gods, this one and its adventures expands to the place beyond the reach of the deities. What would happen to the demigods who travel and battle beyond the gods reach then? They are left on entirely on their own. Exciting and thrilling isn't it?
So far, as between The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune, I liked this one better. :)...more

The new characters were... well...likeable. Jason and Piper were okay, I guess. But I really really love Leo. Thank the gods. Someone with a sense of humor! (Yeah, basically my problem with Jason was he's too serious). #SUPERSIZEDMCSHIZZLE #ALLDALADIESLUVLEO
Nevertheless, the story is as imaginative, gripping and exciting as the first one! If you did love the first book series, you would sure love this new one. New characters and new adventures awaits the curious readers!
To begin with, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the series! I love how the book was written. The writing and the manner of storytelling was not that sophisticated. NTo begin with, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the series! I love how the book was written. The writing and the manner of storytelling was not that sophisticated. No pretentious, fancy words. It was rather PERSONAL and INTERACTIVE. Readers get to really understand Percy.
Secondly, the premise is pretty simple (revolves around a demigod and a task to be fulfilled in a limited amount of time) yet the plot always thickens, and surprises await you at every turn of the page. I love how the author casually introduces the gods and the mythological characters as if they were part of your mundane mortal life. Albeit the number of characters introduced per book, readers will neither get lost nor confused because of the peculiarity attributed to a certain character.
It is an amazing book series which offers the reader an entirely new world with loads of adventures and a bunch of simple life lessons and tells of relatable tale of self discovery, bravery, loyalty, friendship and family. That goes without saying that Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now included in the list of my favorite books.
It certainly is a MUST READ not only to the young ones but also to the young at heart, a MUST READ not just to those with mythophilia but to readers who are imaginative and to readers who simply love a good book with tons of adventure. Highly recommended for those who seek some light reading....more
