This novel was definitely very interesting, and I loved how you could obviously tell who wrote what. The characters were great, as was the story line. However, I felt like there was something missing towards the end. All of the anticipation that was building up wasn't really worth it, because the ending somehow didn't reach my standards. :/ Overall, great book.(less)

Although Just Listen didn't live up to my expectations (thanks to Along For The Ride, I was expecting a lot), I still really liked it because her characters, their interesting back stories, and of course, the way she incorporated music so heavily into the story line. The plot did lack a bit but she really made up for it because of the way she wrote all of these quirks into her characters and how she wrote about music being universal. :)(less)

She's a relatable young narrator and she seems like a person you'd want to be friends with. The plot got a little slow and boring at parts (which is why I'm not rating this book five stars), but its really good overall. The twists at the end (as well as the big reveal) are introduced very well and the author doesn't make it obvious at all throughout the book (which is why its a twist).(less)

It was nice reading something by Shepard that had nothing to do with PLL. The Lying Game has a completely different story, its set in a different world, although the same mystery aspect is still there. Another thing that's still there is Shepard's constant advertising. Its like every single page I read, there is some sort of brand. Its like all of these companies are paying her to mention their products in her books; its getting ridiculous and I feel like it dates the book completely. In about ten years all of the things she will have mentioned will be super old and this book won't be as interesting and relatable because it will have old products and items in its pages. Don't get me wrong, I loved this book. However, I also had trouble finishing it. I'm a fast reader usually, but this book seemed to drag on and it got so boring at times that it took me to long to finish. /:(less)

Initially, I bought the book just because it was written by John Green, but as I began to read it I was afraid I wouldn't like it. I don't know why, I just had that feeling. But I now regret ever doubting John Green because he is possibly one of the best writers alive. The way he portrays the so-called "cancer kids" was amazing; it makes me wonder if he knew someone with cancer himself. The love story between Augustus and Hazel was oh-so-sweet. Of course, I did develop a crush on Augustus Waters because his charm reminds me of someone I know. ;) I do like how the novel was portrayed at a girl's POV instead of a boy's unlike Green's previous books. I don't even know; everything about this book was amazing and I tried so hard to fight the tears streaming down my face during certain parts of the book. Wow...
PS: I love the way food is described in this novel.(less)

All of the things that happened to Hannah, could happen to any of us. That's the worst part. I think Jay Asher is a great author; his writing style is great and I adore his characters. I also liked how he did multi-POVs with Hannah and Clay. It was nice reading about Hannah's story on the tapes and Clay's reactions as he's listening to the cassette tapes. One thing that bugs me is what exactly did Mr. Porter do that played a role in Hannah's suicide? Every time I read this book, I get distracted towards the end after I find out what Clay did to end up on the tapes. Hannah did say something about "lucky number thirteen taking the tapes straight to hell", but why? At first it seemed like he would rape her, but... I don't even know anymore. xD(less)

Burned was such a good book. It was full of suspense, and the writing flowed so well. Shepard really kept me reading throughout the entire thing. I will admit, I almost cried at one certain scene. It was very powerful. I can't wait till Crushed comes out in June! :3(less)

This book was amazing; it kept me in suspense all the way through, and the storylines Shepard crafts up this time are amazing. The character development was good, and it was especially nice reading about Kate treating Hanna nicely instead of being the superbitch she normally is. This book didn't piss me off as much as the past two books did because it sheds more light on Emily's baby and the struggle to find her again. She has a few run-ins with Isaac and I'm pretty happy about that (I loved them when they were together) but I hated that Emily didn't tell him sooner and only told him when (view spoiler)[ the police were there and she had to come clean (hide spoiler)]. To be honest I hate when the girls act stupid in general and hesitate to do the right thing (like tell someone an important secret even though it may be horrifying to that specific person - hint, hint, Aria). I guess that's why they're the Pretty Little Liars. But what pissed me off once again was Hanna's car accident. Its barely mentioned throughout the novel and it seems so made up just to keep you wondering what happened. Now, I will admit that it did keep me in suspense, Shepard failed to bring it up at the right time and didn't mention it at all during Hanna's narration. At least with Emily it was brought up and the reader was somewhat warmed beforehand, compared to a sudden mention in the book like: "Hanna got into a car accident." How boring. I am finally finished with the PLL series (so far) and I honestly can't wait for the 12th book in the saga to come out. :](less)

The girls think that they have finally found who their threatener may be, but as usual, (view spoiler)[ they discover that they are oh-so-wrong and nearly kill someone, just usual PLL stuff. (hide spoiler)] I think it was just the paranoia getting to them, since there was no damn way that Kelsey could have been A. It may have seemed that way, but A is too smart to be figured out so soon! I thought this book was pretty good, and I was excited about Ezra's return to Rosewood and expected him and Aria to run away to New York and live happily ever after with unicorns and rainbows. And to think he wrote an entire novel about her while they were apart? Totally swoon-worthy. But I will admit, he ended up pissing me off during the course of the book. His insecurities come out and he suddenly becomes more defensive, and right after breaking up with Aria he's caught with that bitch Klaudia! Don't even get me started on Klaudia, omfg. But anyway, now that I got that off my chest, I thought this book was good. It keeps you wanting more, which is always a good thing.(less)

Who else could possibly be out there to ruin our four favorite liars, now high school seniors? Well, in Rosewood, Pennsylvania, someone is always watching. There is yet another new arc filled with new secrets, and someone going by the pseudonym of "A" seems to know all, including the unforgivable thing the girls did in Jamaica last spring break. The suspense builds in this book, making you want to know who "A" is - could it be Ali, who's remains in the fire were never found, or someone new? Who had seen them in Jamaica? They sworn they saw no one watching. What did they do in Jamaica, anyway? I devoured this 307 page book in less than two days, and the ending left me dying for the next book in the saga (which, luckily, I had sitting on my nightstand). It was truly amazing and deserved the five-star rating, but I had one little pet peeve. (view spoiler)[ Since when did Emily get pregnant and why was the mention so sudden? (hide spoiler)] I know it is hinted while they were in Jamaica, but later on in the book, until right before she mentions it to Chloe, its never hinted at. Emily seemed normal, and it appeared as if nothing ever happened. Wouldn't you be at least a little devastated if something like that happened to you? It was as if when Emily blurted it out to Chloe, it seemed like it was made up to get Chloe's trust and sympathy. That was really my only problem with this book. Otherwise, it was ah-may-zing! Shepard never fails to impress.(less)

We find out some very important details (which I'm not going to spoil; I want it to be a surprise if you're reading the book) about Ali and her murder. A proves him/herself to be as cunning as ever, blaming several different people to be the killer and confusing our Pretty Little Liars. I thought this book was amazing, and I would have rated it five stars in a heartbeat... Other than the fact that Emily just really pissed me off. I'm usually really open when reading about characters, but seriously, Emily just annoyed me in this book. How she was so intent that Ali was alive and attempted to find her; she was the main reason why most of Rosewood hates her and the other Liars, since she told the cops that Ali was out there, looking like she was seeking attention. I did like the part where she goes to Lancaster, though; that was interesting.(less)

It kept me in suspense all the way through, making me pick up my Kindle every time I had the chance. The Alison DiLaurentis case is finally solved - for real, this time, even though it does take a while to figure it out. The Liars figure out who really killed Alison, and uncover her shocking secrets; secrets that will affect their lives. I will admit that the truth did take a while to sink in. (view spoiler)[ Alison's twin sister Courtney replaced her and befriended the Liars while the real Alison was locked up at the Preserve. Then, at the horrible seventh grade sleepover the night Alison - Courtney - disappeared and was killed, turns out the real Alison was her killer. Thus explaining the note that said Ali killed Ali that Aria got from the shrink. (hide spoiler)] That was kind of confusing. But I will have to admit, the book was great. The writing was fantastic, and I'm surprised Shepard was able to pull of the complicated storyline so well. And, of course, in predictable Pretty Little Liars fashion, there was a traumatic near-death experience towards the end of the book and a chilling epilogue that leaves you wondering, "There's more?"(less)

Spencer thinks she may be adopted, Hanna attempts to use a boy to get back at her "evil" soon-to-be stepsister, Aria tries to figure out her boyfriend's secrets, and Emily's boyfriend's mom is up to something. While their subplots continue off the past book, Shepard adds some twists so its not like you were reading the same old thing. I did notice some differences between New A and Old A. Old A (who was later revealed to be the late Mona Vanderwaal) was more intent on torturing the Liars, while New A seemed to want to...help them figure out who really killed Ali, and warned them about certain people. It is still hard to see whether New A's intentions are entirely pure, however. I feel as if the PLL series is slowly going down after reading the first four books, but oh well - I'll still keep reading to figure out who really killed Ali.(less)

Spencer discovers that she may not be a true Hastings, Hanna attempts to befriend her new stepsister and ex-enemies in order to become Rosewood's "it" girl again, Aria has a crush on her mother's boyfriend, and Emily is confused about her sexuality. Ali's killer has been caught, and Mona is gone, so it seems as if these four girls' secrets are pretty much back in the grave. Until a new A comes around and wants revenge on them. I was excited to read about new secrets and new stories in this book; it was refreshing to read about new things instead of the same-old, same-old. However, some parts were annoying to me as I read the novel; how the girls were so convinced that new A was Ian even though there was no way he could have had access to a computer or phone. The girls were so stubborn and I almost wanted to punch them in the face. I was also annoyed by how Shepard makes things so obvious in her writing. Like, it was so obvious Spencer was starting to fall for Andrew, and then the author had to add a line similar to this: "but its not like Spencer was starting to like him." It was so annoying to me. This book wasn't as good as the first four, but I'm still eager to read more.(less)
