The use of colour as magic was sweet and the character interactions fun and sincere. I also enjoyed how Vasher's sword spoke to him.(less)

You don't necessarily have to read the first book ("The Sight"), but I would also recommend that one as well. It's a dark tale of a very interesting wolf, Fell, and his strange connection to a little girl. Has some cool allusions to Dracula if I remember correctly.(less)

The Herdman kids are proper hooligans who get themselves totally wrapped up in the Nativity story with fantastic results.(less)

Smith has such a way with characters and their interactions with others. These characters are no exception and they go through many struggles and triumphs. As these are more serial happenings, there's not much plot, but plenty of character development with hilarious consequences at times.(less)

As a dinosaur lover, ever since a child, I remember begging my mom to let me see the film when it came out. But, my mother not wanting to scar a young child, did not let me see it in theaters thinking I would be terrified. I saw it later on video (that's right, good ole VHS) and loved it. I decided to read the book just recently and enjoyed it possibly more than the film (hello, there were TWO T-Rexes and SIXTEEN raptors).(less)

It's titled, "The Sound of Her Wings," and it is the first time in Sandman that we meet Death, Dream's sister. She's a punky goth girl and she whips Dream into shape by first throwing a hunk of bread at him (he had been feeding the pigeons and bemoaning his existence), and then taking him with her as she goes to gather some souls who've reached their end. It's powerful how she does it; she takes them so gently and breaks their death to them with kindness, and thus in turn helps Dream to realize that he's not a complete failure and to get on with his life.
I suppose the impact of this particular story might not have been so large had we not gone through the degradation and horror of the stories before (this was why I grew more selective in which Sandman issues I read, and I'm more of a selective reader than one who's read the entire series). But that didn't stop me from purchasing this one particular comic which I read as a standalone from time to time because it is so concise and powerful.
I give this entire volume a five for this last comic alone.(less)

This story didn't disappoint, and has some new characters that I hope will carry on in the series.
And the ending blew my mind. And that's something, because I thought there was nothing left of it to go after last week's finale of Doctor Who. Well played, Mr. Bradley. Now my brain hurts (in a good way).(less)
