First off, I hardly remember what happened in the last book it feels like it's been forever since I read it. Second, although I liked the plot and I loved returning to the bayou I had some major problems with the characters. Let's start with Wyatt. Everything about him rubbed me the wrong way, especially whenever he spoke or interacted with Pepper. He constantly was accusing her of flirting, enticing, liking, having fun with etc... men. Then he would apologize and insist it was "his" problem and not hers. He had this mean streak and she needed to just help him and accept him for who he was. Yet... Pepper was enhanced in a way that made other men look and notice her and Wyatt couldn't seem to accept that. What a giant ass he was. I mean honestly, he would yell at her for the clothes she wore because other men saw her and in the next breath would say "but you're so sexy" "I like the way you dress for me". How obnoxious.
My other problem was Pepper herself. Jeeze. No confidence whatsoever, obviously due in part to how she was raised and how she was treated while in confinement. But her acceptance of the way Wyatt treated her really grated on me. Instead of telling him to buzz off, she would look at herself and ask what she did that was so wrong. Even Wyatt's team members recognized what an idiot he was being and would tell Pepper to kick him or walk away. The whole relationship seemed like a domestic abuse situation waiting to happen. Very off putting.
My favorite part of the whole messed up relationship was when Wyatt demanded that she "calm his beast" by having sex with him directly after he basically called her a slut in front of his friends. Wow. What a winner.
Also, now that I"m reviewing all this, I don't even know why I rated this a 3 star book. I should rate it a 2. And the only reason for a 2 was because of Wyatt's team members (Trap seems like a good character for a book) and Nonny. Everything else just sucked....more

I alsoThis is actually my favorite book so far out of the Leopard People series. I really loved Drake and I was so glad that this book was about him. I also ended up really liking Saria as a character, she was very strong and independent and didn't like Drake take her over like some females do in other books. I loved that. The chemistry between them was believable and I liked how Drake held back in the beginning to make sure he wasn't taking advantage of Saria, how sweet! But once their romance got going, it was really intense.
I hope the next book is about Saria's brother Remy, he seemed like he would be a perfect character to focus a book on. Brooding, dark, sexy.. what else can I ask for in a male hero?

I found this book very entertaining and really liked watching Judith and Stefan together. I also realize that pretty much every book in this series (and also in her Drake series which this is an extension of) is the same and as long as I acknowledge that, it doesn't really bother me.
It did take me a few pages to remember who was who and what was going on, but there was some extra foundation at the beginning that clued me in on the main details. Stefan is a hardened man who is still contracted by dubious people in Russia and he is on his newest mission which involves Judith. He thinks she knows something about a micro chip that was last in possession of notorious criminal La Roux, who was Judith's last lover. So he needs to infiltrate the town to get close to Judith, at least that's what Stefan's telling himself. He also feels inexplicably drawn to the town of Sea Haven and to Judith. Meanwhile, Judith is still trying to get over her guilt for her brother dying and she wants nothing to do with anyone. But once she sets her eyes on Stefan, she can't deny the feelings that he's drawing out of her that she thought were long dead. But will she be able to accept him for all that he is, or will she run the other way and keep her heart safe?
As I said, pretty good book and a really quick read like all the others in the series. Everything flowed together nicely, we saw brief glimpses of other characters from the Drake series and heard how they were doing.
If you liked the other books in Drake and Sisters series, than you will undoubtedly enjoy this one as well....more

I've been feeling like this series has been a little flaky lately and sometimes I'll like the book and sometimes I won't. So I was really happy when I started reading and the story just drew me in. I liked reading about Kane and Rose. They had an interesting story, there was a lot of action and I also liked the glimpses of past characters (some of my favorites re-appeared briefly).
I want the next book to be about Javier, he is going to have a really interesting story!!...more

This book was about Lev and Rikki, who were both very different from other characters. Lev has amnesia and can't remember anything about himself, but through the book he slowly gains back some memories. Rikki was very interesting, and she was a different heroine than we normally see in this genre. She's strong and independent but she has had a lot to overcome throughout her life. I won't say more for fear of spoiling.
Their chemistry together was really great, and I loved them when they bantered back and forth. Lev is one of my new favorite male characters. He's strong, protective, alpha male but also sensitive and loyal to those he calls friends.
I can't wait for the next book in this series!...more

There was so much background story given throughout the book, but around page 200 or so, it sort of just felt like the story ground to a screeching halt so that the author could examine each characters feelings and past. I don't know, it felt like two books put together.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the book, I liked the characters but I think it would have been better with less background and more action....more
