It tied some loose ends together in the main story. In this one, Eve has to chase down a killer that she has already put in jail. He has a hit list and on it are herself and Doctor Mira.
This is during her and Roarke's first Christmas and New Years Eve together. Can she stop him before he harms one of her closest friends? Or will she be too late?(less)

It was a great filler, and as always it just made me wish that I had another full length In death book to read. But still, this was an intriguing story. Not only for the mystery of how a body mysteriously disappears off a boat without anyone noticing, but also because of the moral dilemma that Eve ends up facing.(less)

While it was good and I was glad to finally read more about Simon I also felt a little confused. The timeline felt a little jumbled up to me and it felt like I wasn't reading the series in order. But I'm pretty sure I was reading it the way that it was intended to be read. Despite the slight confusion in some places, it was an enjoyable read and just made me crave a longer novel in the series.(less)

The Jaid Black story: Fatman and Robyn was 3 stars for me. First off I liked that it involved an atypical heroine (as given by the title she was curvy). I liked the interaction between Jake and Robyn, but I could have done with a little more sex. This is my first book by Black and I would definitely give her other books a try.
Scarred and Kilt by Laurann Dohner: I gave this one 2 stars. I wasn't really interested and didn't like either of the main characters.
Tinderbox by Regina Carlysle: I liked this book a lot and gave it 4 stars. I definitely love books with shifters and I especially love books with menage in it. I like the way the author approached the story and although it was short, I still understood the whole idea of mates and women not really coming into their own until they go into heat. Very interesting concept and it explained away the reason she was having sex so quickly with virtual strangers. Sex scenes were written well and I definitely wanted to have more. I'll be looking for more books by this author in the future.
Asterion by Katalina Leon: I gave this one 3 stars. The sex scenes were good and the story built up nicely. But there wasn't much memorable about it and although I enjoyed it I probably wouldn't want to read it again.
Decadent Dance by Aubrey Ross: LOVED LOVED LOVED this short story! By far my favorite from the bunch, definitely 5 stars for me! It was a great concept and very different from other stories I've read. Zoe is the main character and a dress she bought transports her to an alien ship. No seriously! It sounds weird but it really worked. Vaden was definitely sexy and once his extra... appendage, shows up it was even hotter. BTW if you don't like backdoor action, might want to skip this one. But I highly recommend reading it and giving it a try because it was hot hot hot.
Sahara Heat by Diana Hunter: 3 stars for this one. Don't have much to say about it though.
Overall, I'm glad I gave this a try as it gave me some new authors to look into. And the first one on my list is Aubrey Ross!(less)

The first story is Tempt Me and the characters are Rocki and Cole. This was a definite favorite of mine! Rocki is the owner of the lingerie shop Lush and is also a well known designer of corsets and other lingerie for her shop and others in the area. Cole is the D.A who is currently engaged to a bitch of a woman (Mara) and when they both stop into Lush he can't keep his eyes off Rocki. Cole and Mara attend a local benefit that takes place at Rocki's store where there is a live auction for dates with women. After having ended his engagement with Mara, Cole bids on a date with Rocki and he can't believe his luck when he wins. Too bad there are other issues at hand like a crazy person stalking Rocki and threatening her and his crazy ex-fiancee Mara who won't leave him alone. Cole and Rocki have to decide if they want to give their relationship a try or stop before it ever begins.
I loved Rocki and her personality, she just tackled life as it came and she was such a strong person. Cole and Rocki burned up the pages of this book! They were definitely sexy together. I also loved that Rocki was not a stick figure but a voluptuous woman who was content with her body and how she looked. What a nice refreshing change! I only wish there were more to this story, I was so sad when it came to an end. I'll have to look into whether there are other books set in the same area with some of the same characters.
The second story is Beg Me and the characters are Tania and Drake. I have to say I didn't like this one as much, mostly because I'm not into rape fantasies. Tania had been happy with her husband and they both were interested in the same kinds of kink. After her husband died, Tania was actually raped by someone close to their family and ever since that point she has felt stuck in her life. She feels like everything she loved has been taken away from her, even her own sexual desires. To remedy this, she looks to her close friend Drake who she knows is also into the same kinks as her. She asks him if he could help her to get over her past so that she could move on. Drake has no problem helping her out in the bedroom, but he's hoping that there's more to come because he wants to keep Tania for himself.
While I did like how the story was written and I liked Drake and Tania's character, I just couldn't get into the sex scenes. It's not that I felt that there was dubious consent, because I think it was clear that Tania really did want to have sex with Drake, but I just don't find it arousing to have someone being that forceful. But that's just me. The story was well written and there was a good balance between romance and sex. There was also a great suspenseful plot line. So really my only problem with the book was that I wasn't turned on enough, haha! Oh if only every book was this simple. (less)

One of the reasons I like reading anthologies is because it gives exposure to authors that I might end up really liking. Out of this collection I found one author I will definitely look into more.
"Fired Up" by Anne Marsh
This one involved Hannah who sits and watches for wildfires in an isolated tower. Cole is a firefighter who has been talking to Hannah over the radio. They've been exchanging in some sexy banter and Cole is interested in meeting Hannah. While on the radio with eachother fierce lighting strikes by Hannah and knocks out her end of the radio. Cole, being worried, races out to see if she's ok. When they meet, sparks fly!
This one was okay. Since it was really short there seemed little time for character development. I just felt the relationship was really quick and didn't feel much for either of the characters. It seemed more a romping, sexy time book with little else going on. If that's what you like, go for it because it won't disappoint. But if you want a little backstory with the sexual encounters you are out of luck.
"Sizzle" by Lynn LaFleur
Maysen is a photojournalist and arrives in the town of Lanville to take pictures of the firefighters in town. When she meets Chief Clay she can't help but feel attracted to him and is determined to add him into her article. Clay is doing his best to avoid Maysen since the last woman he had a relationship with left town in a hurry and he is now gun shy.
I liked the relationship between Maysen and Clay. It was very cute how they tried to avoid each other despite their initial feelings. I felt there was more of a connection between the two and this story was my favorite from the anthology. It made me want to look for more books by the author LaFleur. I'm interested to see if there are books about the other firefighters that were mentioned in this short.
"Five-Alarm Masquerade" by Stacey Kennedy
Abby just witnessed her apartment burning down and is overcome with grief that she has lost things that cannot be replaced. While going into shock she falls into the arms of a firefighter and later when she gets a look at him she can't believe how gorgeous he is. When someone sends her a package of just underwear and an address to an invite only masquerade she thinks its for her roommate but decides to go and live a little. What she doesn't know is who the invite is really from and that it's intended for her.
This wasn't my favorite from the collection. I found it weird that Abby would go to this fetish party and then be upset when she found out who invited her. It was definitely a sexy book, but there was something missing for me. By the end I didn't have any desire to read more about these characters, or look for more by the author. It just wasn't for me.

The stories are all a part of full length series written by Leigh, so it can provide background for people who have already read the series or it can give you a preview of what the series is like.
I recognized a few of the series but not all of them, so it gave me a chance to read something new and decide if I want to start a new series. All of the short stories in this book featured alpha males and military men, which is definitely a specialty of Leigh. They were all steamy stories with great plot lines but by far my favorite series in this anthology is Reno's Chance, I just loved the tension between Reno and Raven. They were great together!
I did think the stories were a little short and I did wish there were some more details and character development, but otherwise it was typical Lora Leigh. Great sex, great relationships and dangerous situations. Enough to get the blood flowing!
