Rain andWow! What a read. Talk about a myriad of emotions. I’m a Katie Mettner fan, I love all her books, but I think this one might be my favorite.
Rain and Winter were once best friends. Separated at a young age, they never forgot each other. She focused on survival and he focused on finding her. When he does, she’s skittish as a cat, and hiding in his cabin. What happens when they are reunited, their restored relationship, will leave you breathless. Winter is such a complex character, so well written and thought out. She’s human, and she’s flawed, and you’ll love her for it. She was cheated out of a normal childhood and loving parents. Left in the care of a madman, she somehow manages to survive and break free from the cruelty she’s suffered. Unfortunately that freedom doesn’t last long, sending her on the run. Beaten but not yet broken, she runs into the arms of her savior.
Jed or Rain as I prefer to call him, is the perfect hero. He’s gentle, considerate, but isn’t a push over. Once Winter reenters his life, he becomes solely focused on getting her to safety. Once she’s safe, he slowly helps her along the long road to recovery. This book is many things. It’s romantic suspense, it’s inspirational romance, it’s a story about one woman’s fight to find herself while fighting for the right to live a normal life. You’ll root for Winter as you read her story and realize, she’s only asking for something most people take for granted, love, safety, and a life without fear.
Katie Mettner masterfully takes you on a rollercoaster ride full of fear, hurt, confusion, and then love in Winter’s Rain. Reading about Winter’s suffering and then recovery will restore your faith in the human spirit. It certainly did mine.
I wish I could give this story 10 stars! The Northern Lights series is a gem, all three books are diamonds in the rough. I can’t wait for the next one. ...more

I hardly know what to sa5-Stars! The Morbid and Sultry Tales of Genevieve Clare is original, clever, and perfectly written by a very talented author.
I hardly know what to say. I immediately fell in love with this story. A few of my reasons are personal. For starters, it’s set in my backyard. I spent summers on the Russian River as a kid. I know the area well and I love it. I had no trouble picturing every scene and JB’s ability to set a scene made it even easier. Another reason could be that one of her characters closely resembles my dad. None of that matters. Without those similarities, I still would have loved this story. It’s an original story line with a clever plot and witty dialogue. I found it real and insightful. This was my first JB Hartnett book, but it won’t be my last. She’s found a forever fan in me. Anyone who can make me laugh and cry this many times in one story is definitely worth reading again. Not only did I laugh and cry a lot, they very often went hand in hand. JB managed to make me cry and then sob within the same scene, all this without once needing to roll my eyes at corny, stupid, or sappy dialogue. Like I said, this story is very real.
I loved the relationship Gen had with her clients. I loved the creativity of her profession and the way JB wrote it with a realistic twist and a fair bit of class (most of the time). She managed to make something so difficult truly funny and heartwarming to read.
The love story between the two lead characters is so real and heartbreaking, but also sooo incredibly redeeming at the same time. I found Gen and Ahren’s child-like vulnerability completely disarming. On the flip side, I found their strength just as appealing. Real life is hard. Facing the world without your family, accepting that you could also lose your one love could break even the strongest, most secure person. It would break me!
I had no trouble relating to both Ahren and Gen. Their break up killed me. It broke my heart, but the reuniting was sweet as hell. The way they were with each other, the way they cared, the way they fought, the way they dealt with life, everything about them felt very sincere to me. Even the extremely erotic sex scenes were fantastic. JB perfectly managed to do something so few erotic romance authors can do, make the sex scenes part of the plot. They had a point. They successfully moved the story forward. Too often sex is written into stories just for the sake of sex. JB didn’t do that. Her loves scenes had purpose, they had conflict. Everything in this book fit into its place. She so well applied the advice I’ve heard so many times from more experience authors. Make every scene count; make every scene have conflict, make everything in the story have a purpose. JB Hartnett did that masterfully in this book.
This is truly an engaging, well written, and heartwarming book. What can I say, this story owned me from go. ...more

When I started reading again last weekend, I had trouble putting it down at all. When I couldn’t read it, I was thinking about it. This is a truly heartwarming and inspirational book. I fell in love with all the characters, human and otherwise. Have you ever met someone whom you think has it all figured out, but then you’re surprised to realize, it’s an act? Or at least surprised to realize they needlessly question themselves and their actions. The main character in this book is like that. She’s smart, caring, loveable, and a fantastic mother. Unfortunately she doesn’t know it. She doesn’t see what the rest of the world sees. Thankfully, Kade Franco does, and he’s man enough to point Autumn to a mirror so she can see it too.
I think Katie Mettner is an incredible author. She’s not your typical Christian Romance writer. She doesn’t write fluff with the intention of fooling people into believing they’ll live the perfect life if they give themselves over to Christ. She writes real life. She writes real world. But she’s also very sneaky and a little conniving…in a very good way. She’s sneaky in a way where she gets people like me, who have very short attention spans, to sit through a bible study. Each of her books teaches something, and before you realize the value of the session, you’ve finished the book. Good job, Katie. Thank you for inviting me to get to know your fabulous characters and for the lesson. ...more

I fell in love with these characters in the first book, Sugar's Dance, but Katie Mettner just deepens that affection with each new book. In Sugar's night, we get a more in-depth look into Julie's life and Julie's past, and what an interesting past it is. Everything about her character is explained in this book and brings her full circle. I couldn't help but root for her and want to ring her neck at the same time. She's such a complex character...and now we know why. You'll love following her journey and learning more about where she comes from. You'll also love her sweet confirmation of the love she has for her small but eccentric mixed family. It's a happy ending indeed for Julie and the gang. Speaking of endings...Ms. Mettner cruelly leaves us with a teasing final sentence. Will there be another in the series? I certainly hope so. Catch up with Sugar and her gang in Sugar's Night. You won't regret it. If you haven't started the series, go back to Sugar's Dance where it all started. The entire series is fantastic! I truly feel like part of the family while reading these books....more

I had trouble getting into this book in the beginning. It wasn't the story, it's a wonderful love story. I just haven't read very many books written in present tense and that took some getting used to. Once I got beyond that, I devoured this book. It's a great read with really fun characters and a villain you'll love to hate. I enjoyed the sweet romance and the way MK brought the characters together...twice. I don't want to add much detail to avoid spoilers, but I will tell you, through the first 1/2 of the book, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it did, oh boy did things change. I thought Mattie's character was very real and very likeable. I always questioned Jeremy a bit, only because he seemed a little too perfect. And as perfect as Cade was, I felt comfortable with him right away.
Intentional is the perfect summer beach read. You'll fall in love more than once and in the end, you'll beg for more. ...more

She has drawn me in and made me fall in love with her characters. Carla and Grant so beautifully bring themselves out of their daily despair and allow themselves a second chance. However, it seems without the other, it wouldn’t have been possible. The characters so carefully complement each other. At first, Carla comes across and a smart and sassy business woman, but you quickly realize she fights invisible demons every day. Grant’s a free spirit on the outside, making people believe he doesn’t have a care in the world, the surfer dude who belongs on a beach. He too bears heavy weights on his shoulders, too tightly bound to his past and to his regrets to let himself live happily. You’ll love reading about their journey and getting to know them. You’ll feel like a member of their community and wish you could drink a Kinky Karmel Kuffs with them in the café, but most of all, you’ll love reading about their growth and redemption. Don’t be fooled by the genre, Christian Romance, this is a HOT love story about two people who fight their way to a happy ending. Granted Redemption is more than a Christian love story, it’s an adventure in self-forgiveness and restoring the human spirit. And how can I get my hands on a mashed potato pizza? ...more

Leverage is everything a great thriller should be, it’s violent, sexy, suspenseful, and smart! Nancy S Thompson kept me on the edge of my seat through the entire novel. The opening was fantastic. I was hooked completely in the beginning and then over and over again throughout the entire story. I never got bored, I never felt the need to flip ahead, and I had a hard time putting my Kindle down at bedtime.
The rollercoaster ride begins with Hannah’s son Conner, who is now a college student in wet and rainy Seattle. Nancy’s descriptions of the city makes you feel like it’s another character in the story, but it’s nothing compared to the tragic and painful way she describes Conner’s feelings as he trudges through tragedy in the first few chapters of the story. Once you’re on the ride, Nancy never lets up. It’s one crazy thing after another as Ty and Hannah both slowly intertwine into the story. The drama unfolds masterfully as one tragic thing turns into another, sending the trio on a ride that forces them to question everyone they thought they could trust.
If you’ve read The Mistaken, you don’t want to miss Leverage. It’s a prologue and an epilogue all in one. You’ll get Ty’s backstory and learn where he really comes from and how he really got tangled up with the Russian Mob. You’ll walk away from Leverage exhausted from the adventure but satisfied with the tearful ending.
If you haven’t read The Mistaken, you can still enjoy Leverage, but you’ll be missing out on the incredible story that brought Hannah and Ty together, not to mention one hell of a thriller involving Nick, Jill and more of the Russian Mob. ...more
