I was expecting a sweet love story, which I got, but I wasn’t expecting a romantic suspense, but it had a couple of pretty scary moments. Kate and Gideon don’t exactly get off on the right foot the first time they meet in paradise. Kate, having her self-esteem crushed at the hands of Gideon on Valentine’s Day, returns home from Hawaii with the goal of forgetting she’d ever met the jerk. Kate’s story will break your heart. She’s sweet and loving, and a fiercely loyal friend, but she’s also very alone. Now that her best friend is married and pregnant, she’s fighting the self-pity and loneliness that plagues her. Gideon has been on a journey of lose and self-discovery. After spending months and months nursing his dying mother, he’s realized how empty his playboy life really was. He’s also realized how much family means to him, but is it too late? Being threatened and chased from his home by someone dead set on destroying him, he heads to Snowberry to hide. Many months of trying to get him and the words he said to her out of her head, Kate doesn’t know what to think when Gideon steps into her office. What proceeds from there is a wonderfully plotted and well written story that will warm your heart while it makes you wish you had your own Gideon Armstrong to sweep you off your feet and protect you. Kate and Gideon’s story begins with misunderstandings and travels through conversations with God and each other until their love can’t be denied. They’re both redeemed and they’re both healed and they’re both overdue for some happily ever after. Thankfully Katie Mettner delivers all of the above! ...more

It is that good. I’m a huge Lisa Regan fan, and I couldn’t wait to read the follow up to Hold Still. The second installment of Jocelyn Rush’s story is so full of terror and tension, you won’t be able to put it down. The calculation that went into this plot is beyond frightening. I don’t normally like thrillers, I don’t like reading about what humans can do to other humans, but Lisa has a way of pulling me into the story quickly and making it impossible to stop reading.
This tale weaves a little differently than Hold Still. In Cold-Blooded, Jocelyn is a little more vulnerable than she was in Hold Still. She’s a little more seasoned but also a little more scared. She’s had a firsthand taste of the violence she’s normally shielded from, and that’s changed her a little. She’s given up her badge and gained the freedom to investigate what she wants, but with this freedom comes a lack of security. Don’t worry, she’s still very sharp, and she’ll make you laugh out loud more than once! But she might make you think twice before drinking someone else's coffee.
What else can I say, but that Cold-Blooded is the embodiment of a top-notch, great thriller. Lisa Regan will make you thankful for your safe, comfortable bed while you’re hiding under the covers reading this quintessential, calculated, maniacal masterpiece. ...more

Loved it so much, as soon as I finished, I went right back to the beginning to read it again! Tiffany was adorable! Ditto for Todd. I loved them both! Their relationship was fun to read and they had so much chemistry! MK Harkins has no trouble creating cute and clever romance; she’s nailed it with Taking Tiffany. I felt like Todd and Tiffany were old friends of mine from the very beginning. I loved all the secondary characters too and now I can’t wait to go back and read Breaking Braydon, because, yes, I haven’t read Breaking Braydon yet, BUT that didn’t make it hard to get right into Taking Tiffany. I had no trouble keeping up with this story. It can definitely stand on its own without the prequel. MK Harkins absolutely kept me guessing until the end too. I tried throughout the story to guess the badguy, but it took me quite a while to figure it out.
The first time I read from Angela’s POV I wasn’t sure I’d like her. Well, actually I was sure I wouldn’t like her, but I wasn’t sure I would like reading about her. I was so wrapped up in Tiffany’s story, I didn’t care to hear from Angela. But the more I read, the more I enjoyed reading these chapters. Angela’s story was extremely interesting. I found myself looking forward to these chapters. I can honestly say, I enjoyed both story lines immensely. Well done, Ms. Harkins! I haven’t read The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks, but I watched the movie and this reminded me of that. Two very different stories all wrapped up into one. It’s really, really good!
I can’t wait to see what MK comes up with next, until then, I’m off to read Breaking Braydon! ...more

Ms. Mettner is the queen of inspirational romance. She can take the most broken characters and turn them into the most giving and forgiving characters you’ll wish you knew in real life.
I knew Phoenix and Adam from Winter’s Rain. If you loved Winter’s Rain, you will thoroughly enjoy Forever, Phoenix. The two stories intertwine beautifully. Winter’s happy ending is prolonged here and you’ll get plenty of chances to see her happy and successful.
Phoenix and Adam come together beautifully too. Adam is a sweet and very attentive person who loves with his whole heart. His story is littered with tragedy that he fights to overcome.
Phoenix is also beautifully broken. With a secret and a severe case of insecurity, Phoenix accepts that she’s destined to be alone, until Adam swoops back into her life after being gone for 6 years. Their love story is a test of time and by the end, you’ll have no doubt they’re meant to be together.
Right when you think the story is over, you’re rewarded generously with the happiest of endings for this loving couple.
As with all of Katie’s books, I loved this story. I cried, laughed and even got a little mad a couple of times, but if you’re not feeling the full range of emotions with one of Katie’s books, there’s something wrong with you. ...more

To think she came into the book scene as a writer of thrillers and now she’s released a first-class erotic romance. Stirred is hot, romantic, and thrilling all at the same time. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire novel. I love that Stirred is a romantic thriller first and erotic romance second. It’s not very often erotic romance is driven by plot; they’re usually focused more on straight sex. It’s hard to balance a romance plot and a mystery sub-plot at the same time. Many people don’t realize the skill and focus it takes to get the balance right. Nancy nailed with Stirred!
The encounters between Sean and Eden early in the novel are so well done, I got lost in their world and in the world of Seattle. The tension increased every time they were in a room together. Their relationship seemed to crackle at times, making it incredibly difficult to put the book down when I need to. Nancy managed to stay on point with the mystery plot, but still write some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve read in a long time. Not only are the sex scenes hot, they’re littered with tension! Sean and Eden melted into the pages and seamlessly became real life to me as I read. I’m also giving Nancy extra points for offering us a lead woman character over 40. Who says good romance has to be between twentysomethings all the time? I found it refreshing to read about a hot, sexy, and incredibly smart MOM who was finally getting what she wanted in life. I also found it equally refreshing to see her love interest was a younger man. Romance novels are so often the other way around.
Congrats to Nancy S. Thompson on a fantastic, well-written, and stunning novel! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next! ...more

Rain andWow! What a read. Talk about a myriad of emotions. I’m a Katie Mettner fan, I love all her books, but I think this one might be my favorite.
Rain and Winter were once best friends. Separated at a young age, they never forgot each other. She focused on survival and he focused on finding her. When he does, she’s skittish as a cat, and hiding in his cabin. What happens when they are reunited, their restored relationship, will leave you breathless. Winter is such a complex character, so well written and thought out. She’s human, and she’s flawed, and you’ll love her for it. She was cheated out of a normal childhood and loving parents. Left in the care of a madman, she somehow manages to survive and break free from the cruelty she’s suffered. Unfortunately that freedom doesn’t last long, sending her on the run. Beaten but not yet broken, she runs into the arms of her savior.
Jed or Rain as I prefer to call him, is the perfect hero. He’s gentle, considerate, but isn’t a push over. Once Winter reenters his life, he becomes solely focused on getting her to safety. Once she’s safe, he slowly helps her along the long road to recovery. This book is many things. It’s romantic suspense, it’s inspirational romance, it’s a story about one woman’s fight to find herself while fighting for the right to live a normal life. You’ll root for Winter as you read her story and realize, she’s only asking for something most people take for granted, love, safety, and a life without fear.
Katie Mettner masterfully takes you on a rollercoaster ride full of fear, hurt, confusion, and then love in Winter’s Rain. Reading about Winter’s suffering and then recovery will restore your faith in the human spirit. It certainly did mine.
