As a life long fan of Ghostbusters, this hit home on a lot of fronts. Everything felt so true the universe. The characters and all their traits that make them who they are really stand out. As I was reading it, it felt so natural since I already know the characters so well. The art is great as well and loved the ghost trapping scenes. Also loved the end of the issues where they debriefed on the ghost they captured. Like a detective closing a case on a criminal after they've been captured. So much awesome detail, it's amazing! Can't wait to keep reading through the series....more

I was expecting some sort of tie in to whatever i knew of Alice in Wonderland, but really, it seems the only similarities so far are Wonderland. The story got insanely intriguing halfway through and continued on until the second to last chapter. While it ended in a type of cliffhanger, i felt satisfied knowing what i knew. At some points i got heavy Game of Thrones vibes and i liked where it a going. I'm looking forward to picking up the second book when it comes out. Until then, if you like anything to do with Alice, give this a read as it will show you the way the royal family operates in Wonderland....more

Not since Harry Potter have I wanted to fly through a series of books. I usually am not mentally equipped to handle such grim situations, but the story was too good and some of the characters made me care about them.
I want to talk about what happened and talk about some stuff I didn't agree with but I hate giving spoilers.
I kinda feel sad that it's over now. That's a big reason why I hate these types of series. I get too into it and then feel like a hole is formed when it's done, no matter the closure. I feel like I'm going to be relating real life situations and such to the Hunger Games for a while. I also feel like I'm going to have the story in the back of my mind for a while as well.
I have never, ever reread a book before. But all 3 of these were so easy to get through and had such a smooth flow and pace that I can see myself picking it back up to give it another run. Especially when the second movie nears release.
If I had to pick an order for the best books, I'd say Catching Fire > The Hunger Games > Mockingjay.
Catching Fire EASILY had my interest the most and kept me on edge and wanting more. It kept me thinking about it well after I was done reading and even into Mockingjay.
The Hunger Games comes in second because of the details that it goes into when describing what happens in the Games. It shows Katniss at her best and least vulnerable, and is the perfect primer for the rest of the series.
Mockingjay is the slower paced out of the 3, but it's because of the story it's telling. Knowing that it's the final book and that everything that happens in it will bring closure to everything that happened before it is what makes it memorable. Most of the characters are all developed and either loved or hated, and the story is like a runaway train and you're just waiting for it to hit a wall.
If there were another book after Mockingjay, and it didn't give you that closure, it would not have been able to hold up next to the first 2 books.
I honestly feel like rereading them all now. That's how much I was into them. And I didn't know I was going to get that way with it. I'm glad the wife made me read it. ...more

I blame the pacing, it was crazy fast. I thought it was only going to be the first half of the book but before I knew it I was the end. It almost feels like the whole book was rushed. But it was still good, it didn't take away from it, so I guess it's ok.
A few things I was expecting, but more was surprising.
One thing's for sure.. I would have gone insane if I read this when it first came out. Waiting for the third book would have been torture. Can't wait for the movie!

Events that when after reading I found myself thinking about it for hours, even days. So traumatizing, but so, so good.
I feel like I've been reading this forever. And I kinda have. I have the show sitting on the DVR because I wanted to get through the book first and boy oh boy, was it good. Longest book I've read I think, but worth reading it before watching the show.
Towards the end I found myself walking around the house reading it on my phone using the kindle app, that's how into it I was. Some chapters were more intriguing than others, definitely. But still, as a whole, it was a great read. Can't wait to get on with the series to see where all my favorite characters are headed, but I think I'm going to chase this with something else first....more
Woo hoo! Done! It was good and aside from the chills and nervous feelings I got from the setting, I was pretty hooked. Especially towards the end.

A lot of underlying messages too, or maybe that was just me and my overly paranoid self. Or, maybe it wasn't. I don't know, more times than not I found myself comparing and finding similarities between the book and the real world. And that is where a lot of the chills and nervous feelings came from.
